In PMF 5.2, User Entered Measure (UEM) values are linked via internal keys. They don't have any external keys to link to - they were typed in directly and no keys were input. Therefore if you restructure your dimensions, the already-entered user-entered values are orphaned, and eligible for deletion.
We have a technique you can use to recapture those values and re-load them in so they're again linked for PMF 5.2. It is rather complicated but it works.
In PMF 5.3.1 and higher, UEM values are linked via both the internal key and any loaded Dimension keys. So if you restructure your dimensions, already-entered UEM values are preserved and moved to the new locations of those keys. If any key values are removed from the new Dimension structure, those UEM values are, again, orphaned and thus cleaned up (deleted).
The exception in this case is UEMs linked to User-Entered Dimensions. There again, these Dimensions have no keys when they're created, quite explicitly. So any already-entered UEMs are orphaned when the UED is restructured.
Hope this makes sense. Let us know if we can help.
