Customer asks:
I have a need for a chart where each bar in the graph shows a 12 month rolling number.
So for example, a January value would be February 2015 - January 2016 and so on.
Product answers:
Sure, this can be done.
Getting the DataThe metric would need to be loaded as a 12 month rolling number via a Source.
Best practice would be to aggregate the data rolling 12 month in the view, or in a staging area, then feeding it to PMF.
PMF would load the aggregates month by month for all your other dimensions.
Getting the display rightIn that situation you don’t want aggregates when you go from month to quarter or year level when analyzing the data in PMF.
If you look at quarter level or year level, what you’d want would be just the most recent month value.
To prevent PMF from rolling up the data higher up in time, Measures have a property
Time Summary (on the Measure
Controls tab). If you set this to
Most Recent, this tells PMF to only display present values, and to not aggregate months to quarters but to instead show the most recent month value, when you drill up.
Hope this helps.
