Random error when keying User Entered Measures
Hi,

My client has reported a seemingly random error that pops up when keying user entered measure values. I have a screenshot of the pop-up error message, and it says:

"The actual or target value did not calculate correctly. This is most likely due to entering incorrect data values or a problem with the formula used in the measure loader.

PMF Error: ***No records were returned."

They got this error three or four times while typing measures, and are a little concerned.

Please advise.

Joey

Could the random element here possibly be the human one?

That message from Measure entry means the user's typing is failing to validate.

Measure entry validates input. Possibly they are typing extra commas, or decimal points, or dollar signs, and not realizing it doesn't like them.

If they are typing a lot of numbers in, they have only to correct the one or two that are wrong. The function automatically enters data the moment they leave a line so their typing on other items isn't lost...

If this is happening and you know it is somehow erroneous (it certainly isn't erroneous when we test it, but then again you didn't tell me what they are typing when this happens, so I can't imagine what they could type that would fall outside it).

Is it possible for the validation to occur after the user has already moved off the field and typed another value in a different field? The reason I ask is that I have a screenshot that shows a few values that have been entered, with the display value next to them to indicate that they have been input in the database. The bottom two fields are different though. They both have values typed in the fields, but the display values still say .00. If the problem was a validation error, I would not have expected the user to be able to proceed to the next field... Any suggestions?

No problem. I'll get the user to send me a softcopy and then I'll enter a case for you to follow-up with.

Cheers,

Joey
