[SOLVED] Installing PMF hits Catch22
Hi,

I have followed the install instruction that I got when downloading PMF. Running 7.6.9 version of WF, I have hit a snag.
When PMF is installing I come to the page where the "Web home" is to be pointed out, as well as the WF catalogues.
I am only using Apache, that is included with the WF 7.6.9, I point out the tomcat 5.5\webapps\ROOT and then click the button NEXT. A red message appears stating that the catalogue is not writeable.

I cannot change this, any ideas?

Robert

You have to make sure your web server has read/write access to the tomcat home, and that the XML config files and any other config files don't have read-only access.

This access is usually set in your OS, not from Tomcat, and not in the PMF installer.

Hi,

Yes it works now. As it was running under Vista, I had to switch off the UAC (User Access Control). UAC is one of the worst things in Vista.

In regards to the installation, why does IB keep to this old way of showing on install step at a time. Why not show the whole install process on a single page and highlight each step that it passes.

I thing it would help the person installing to be able to read through all the steps at a glance. I mean look at when you install a TV or a DVD player, there is the quick install with all the pictures showing you step by step as well as the booklet.

Thanks
Robert

We pretty much follow the Std Operating Procesure for the OS we're installing on. Every app in Windows uses these "wizards" for install so we follow suit. The doc does cover all the steps so perhaps that's where you'd go to get that overview.

thanks
