Id like to create a nice readable data dictionary from the synonyms - that way someone who isnt an IB developer can see what measures and dimensions we have available in our environment. I found that there is a master file located at d:\ibi\srv82\home\catalog called COMASTER and it is supposed to be able to read a master file and report its content. For example you can create this procedure:
-SET &ECHO=ALL SET SQUEEZE=ON FILEDEF COMASTER DISK &MFDNAME TABLE FILE COMASTER PRINT TITLE DESCRIPTION BY FIELDNAME ON TABLE SET STYLE * ENDSTYLE ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT PDF END
And enter the brokers.mas file from ibisamp and youll get a report thats a nice PDF that describes the master itself.
I tried this with one of my master files but it seems that the COMASTER was written a long time ago and it doesnt support defines or currency display and I am sure other useful and newer features. I was wondering if anyone has come up with a solution for this.

Slight correction, the table is named SYSCOLUM, without the trailing 'N'.
There's also SYSTABLE.
TABLE FILE SYSCOLUM
PRINT *
WHERE TBNAME EQ 'SYSCOLUM';
END

When I look at the text of the Business View it shows those folder names as a DESCRIPTION. I was having trouble with my system and unable to try a report against that view..
Thank you for using Focal Point!
