Conditionally formating sub totals in sub footers

I am including subtotals in the sub footers, and would like to change the text color of the sub total depending on if the sub total is positive or negative.
What I seem to be seeing is that the condition seems to be acting upon the value of the last record prior to the sub footer, and not upon the sub total value.
For example if the sub total is positive, but the last value of the column was negative, the text color of the subtotal will be for negative. Is there a way around this?

Thanks
