We are using Webfocus 8.1 and recently relocated the repository to a new Oracle database. I changed the connection string to point to this database and restarted the WebFOCUS web application and the Distribution Server. After this, I haven't been able to login to admin user, it keeps giving a "invalid user name or password. Please try again.". In the audit.log, the error message is -
INFO signin 0000000000000000 :unknown: signIn Failure-WFRS_authentication User:admin WFRSNODE:EDASERVE RC:EDC_SEC_BAD_USERID(32033) msg:Bad Userid IPaddr:xx.xx.x.x
In the websecurity.log file -
ERROR [http-nio-8080-exec-4:wfsecurity] :unknown: - Sign In Failure: 5003 IBFSException 5003: ERROR_AUTHENTICATION_FAILURE

I tried to use the solution provided in case 82932511: How to reset the default password of WebFocus Administration, I added the parameter IBIWFC_authentication=NONE and restarted the web application and distribution server but still getting the same error.

The URL I am using to login - http://:8080/ibi_apps/signin
Any suggestions on what to try to login as admin again ?

The message seems to indicate that there is no user "admin" for whatever reason.

Is the user name now case-sensitive in the new database?

That's all I can think of right now.

Check out Oracle table "UOA_USERS" in the Repository... make sure "admin" is there.

Thanks for the response. Yes, the user admin exists in the UOA_USERS table and the lastlogintime value for this user shows as 15-FEB-16 02.50.58.085000 PM.

Any error in the webfocus81/logs/event.log that shows connection problem to oracle; security is in the db for that version.
