When WebFOCUS creates a compound Excel file, it writes it as a .XHT file, which is okay if it were going to be opened by the person using it. But linking a .XLS file to a .XHT file doesn't work.
In this situation, the final Excel .XLS workbook has worksheets in it that correspond to the worksheets in a compound .XHT workbook created by WebFOCUS. I need to link the cells in the worksheets in the .XLS workbook to the cells in the corresponding worksheets in the .XHT workbook.
Excel allows linkages (cell references) between two .XLS workbooks. However the cell references in a .XLS workbook can't access the the cells in a .XHT workbook.
Can WebFOCUS create a Compound Excel workbook as a true .XLS file? Or is there a way to convert the .XHT workbook to a .XLS workbook? This has to be automated.
A Python script would be acceptable, although not preferable. If a python script is presented, please include how to run it from WebFOCUS.
Thank you,
