I need to validate the data in a string (Subscriber Name, length 50) to be alphabetic (only English aplhabets) and should not contain any numeric characters.
We have beed using character by character validation in our applications. Is there any in-built Focus function available to validate the data?
Thanks for your responses.

There is a new function called PATTERN which came out in WebFOCUS 7.6.5 that could help you. I do not know whether it is available in your version of FOCUS but you could check the Functions manual for syntax and give it a try to see if it works.
