i have question on infoassist :-

i want to know how users can select records within InfoAssist based on the contents of an external file that they are provided from an external resource.

you're probably going to want to read a 'business view', rather than the raw master.
in a 'business view', you can join your host file to this external file, an innter join, and that should do it.
Read up on Business Views... they're cool.
