Fairly frustrated by this one, from a search in the Focal Point forums I'm guessing this isn't possible, but thought I'd take a shot in the dark.
I am attempting to use a defined field to create a link in a column and elements of the link are being filled in by other columns. The link unfortunately contains an & and I can't quite seem to achieve this in Excel:
My defined field is very close to Francis' example in this thread :
DEFINE FILE CAR
COUNTRY_LINK/A200 = '<a href="http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&|output=search&|q=' || COUNTRY | '" target=win_google>' | COUNTRY | '</>';
END
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
SALES
BY COUNTRY_LINK AS COUNTRY
END
When I make my output Excel I basically just get the full url in the column as a string instead of a hyperlink. Any suggestions are very welcomed.This message has been edited. Last edited by: Mike Williams,
Mike, try the code below. There seem to be no documentation for SET HTMLFORMTYPE=XLS.
-* File fp_mike_williams1.fex
DEFINE FILE CAR
COUNTRY_LINK/A200 = '<a href="http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&|output=search&|q=' || COUNTRY | '" target=win_google>' | COUNTRY | '</>';
END
-RUN
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
SALES
BY COUNTRY_LINK AS COUNTRY
ON TABLE HOLD AS H001 FORMAT HTMTABLE
END
-RUN
SET HTMLFORMTYPE=XLS
-RUN
-HTMLFORM BEGIN
!IBI.FIL.H001;
-HTMLFORM END

Give me code, or give me retirement. In FOCUS since 1991
Production: WF 7.7.05M, Dev Studio, BID, MRE, WebSphere, DB2 / Test: WF 8.1.05M, App Studio, BI Portal, Report Caster, jQuery, HighCharts, Apache Tomcat, MS SQL Server
Really appreciate the input, it's an excellent approach in order to maintain the links.
Unfortunately, it appears the security setup on my end is preventing the file from coming through properly, I'm ending up with a file with no extension that when viewed via a text editor contains the table & information from the .fex.
Francis, thanks again for taking the time in offering a method to accomplish this requirement.
Marking this [Solved] as this would normally work, but the issue is on my side.
