This file seems to have been recently generated with size 1.5gb. Has a trace been inadvertently turned on?

Is it safe to delete it?

I checked on my AIX system. I have a directory with nothing in it.

I found this on console help:

dfm_dir = operating system specific pathname

Internal default: /dfm_dir

This keyword is applicable to Deferred Operation. It defines the location where deferred requests and responses are stored.

You could probably leave the directory but delete the file.

On the console, this was under Configuration/Special Services.

Ginny is correct in that the folder is the repository for deferred reports. Each deferred report comes in three files each with the same file name but a different extension. The .rsp is the actual report and you should be able to look at it with a text edit but DO NOT SAVE ANY CHANGES. There should also be a .rpf and .rqd file there as well.

The deferred reports should expire after a set number of days (default 30 days?) but you should be able to delete them from a console somewhere but I can't remember which one

To answer Tony's question, it is the dfm_maxage parameter in the web console, Configuration/Special Services/DFM.

That sets the max days but I am sure that there is a console somewhere where you can delete them manually and early.

You can delete the file outside of mre and you can later delete the database entry without any problem for those wishing to reclaim space.

John, you can delete these files outside of mre, but you will get deferred tickets of unknown.

I also have noticed that in WF 7.1.6, with a dfm_maxage of 15, the deferred files are not expiring.

We just had a similar issue with a deferred job that while reading a file has format issues and produced an rsp file of just over 1 gb. Almost filled the disk and started warning lights to flash.
