Hi all,

I am making a report & running it
for a first time . I am using an 'APP HOLD xyz' command in order to save the hold file to the application xyz.
When i run the report for the second time..i want it to hit the hold file instead of hitting the database.

Any suggestions?????

Thanks,
DEVI

Check to see if the xyz/hold file exists and if so skip the initial selection of data and go directly to the part that deals with the hold.
You can use the DOS STATE command to find out if a certain file exists or not.

Hope this helps ...

And make sure you filedef it using the APP FI or FILEDEF command.

You can use an amper variable as the filename in the TABLE command to remain flexible after you determine whether the hold file exists or not.
