In WebFOCUS Maintain, I have a need to take a number and concatenate it into a string, and I want it to always be four characters. This doesn't happen when the number is less than 1000.
Maintain's version of the Edit function does not allow for masking, so I'm left with the ungainly option of getting a trimmed length for the alpha field after the conversion and then adding the correct number of zeros via a set of concatenations to fill whatever number of spaces are missing.
Sounds pretty ordinary. Does anyone know of a better way to do this? I'll likely have a dozen or more of these to perform on the application so it's worth a bit of time to find a better way.
I've also looked at the Mask function, which is of no help as best I can tell. No leading zeros.
