[CLOSED] Tables vs Segments
Hi Focal Point:

I am three weeks into Webfocus, so I am fairly new to the terminology and underlying structure.

How do I differentiate between a table versus a segment in a cluster.

Also, how do I determine how a cluster is constructed, i.e. which tables comprise a particular cluster.

Many Thanks,
Robb

The easiest way for me to identify the components of a cluster is to Open the synonym using Text instead of the GUI and look for CRFILE=. That'll tell you what cross reference synonyms are being used in the cluster. CRJOINTYPE= will tell you how they are joined. PARENT= will help you figure out the order of the tables being joined.

Hi Raff

Welcome to Focal Point and WebFOCUS. It is a great forum with lots of knowledge to share.

If you are more visual you can open the cluster synonym with the gui interface and click on the modeling tab at the bottom. It will display the hierarchy of how the structure is joined. If you right mouse click on a join line you can see the join properties.

Thank you for using Focal Point!
