[CLOSED] Dev Studio HTML Composer 7.7.03 - Chaining Confusion
I have two dynamic multi-select lists chained together and populated by one fex. The data values display properly on the form, but the chaining doesn't work. When clicking on one value in the parent list-box, the child list-box values do not get filtered.
According to the doc "Designing a User Interface for a Web Application With the HTML Composer > Chaining Controls for Dependencies in the HTML Composer > Applying Conditions to a Chain" I'm supposed to "Create a New Condition" for the link - but when I read the instructions, even though they are in my first language (English) they make absolutely no sense!
They seem to have over-complicated the creation of chaining conditions - it was a heck of a lot easier in v768.
I don't understand the instructions to create a Condition whereby when one or more values are clicked on the parent select list, the child select list is repopulated based on the selected values. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Francis Mariani,

This is the technique I use to get three chained multi selects to work:
TABLE FILE filename
SUM display_field_1
display_field_2
display_field_3
BY value_field_1
value_field_2
value_field_3
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT XML
END
So far it is working in 7.7.3 at this client.

I was talking about "conditions" - which are added from the Parameters tab of Composer.

Usually the "Default" condition is sufficient and you don't need to create extra conditions.
I have been in situations where it appeared necessary to create an extra condition (multiple parent-fields for a child-field, for example), but that's something I never got to work.
Maybe multi-select dropdowns have a specific issue to them though, I try not to use them as they're confusing to many users.
