Hi all We are in the process of evaluating reporting tools (WebFOCUS and Jasper) for converting some existing Actuate reports to either of these tools. Is there any significant advantage/s of using WebFOCUS over Jasper? It would be great if I can get some points for comparison of Jasper and WebFOCUS. Any pointers would be appreciated!

Maybe that's because no one has ever heard of Jasper? You might be on your own on that one-

Could be -- as it's a WebFOCUS forum. Why would you need anything else?

We recently switched to WebFOCUS from BRIO/Hyperion. As part of our overall evaluations we reviewed a few open source vendors including Jaspersoft. For what it's worth.....we thought that Jasper would require a heavy developer focus to build out the interfaces and reports for our business and also felt that it didn't offer nearly the same level of functionality that the other vendors did (such as IBI). Perhaps the open source solutions will become more robust and user friendly as they mature but we didn't feel they were at that point yet.

Darin/Francis - you're right. I myself heard about Jasper for the first time . I thought there might be someone who could throw some light on this topic. I guess I found one - Bob!
