sathyanveshiPotal Integration and Third-party authentication
Hi,
We have a BEA WebLogic portal and we would like to see WebFOCUS reports as portlets in our portal. I beleive there is Open Portal Services utility which provides us with WebLogic-specific portlets to create and deploy reports as portlets within WebLogic framework.
We have a thrid-party authentication system which is neither LDAP nor AD. It's a system developed on Sybase database. The database holds user details, user groups, profiles and some entitlements (like which user/usergroup can access what reports). The Portal is integrated with the authentication system. The users will log into the portal and then access/run the reports (which are displayed as portlets)
My query is: because my reports are "embedded" as WebLogic portlets in a WebLogic portal and since the portal itself authenticates the user when he/she logs in, is there a need for me to integrate WebFOCUS with the authentication system to authenticate the users from the WebFOCUS end?
Please reply if you need more clarification.
Thanks for reading through. Your response to this query is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Mohan

dhagenI would suspect that there would be no need to re-authenticate from the WebFOCUS end, so long as you can assure that WebFOCUS will only respond to queries that are requested from your WebLogic server. If WF is exposed to other queries, then I would suggest some form of authentication.
Please note that I have never worked with OPS, so take this for what it's worth.
