I have a file sorted by a particular set of fields. There are multiple occurances of one record (with different data than the sort field) to the right of the sort field. I want to de-dupe the file in such a way as to retain the highest record value (but there may be more than one occurance of that highest value). Is there a way to do this in FOCUS?This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,
Watch out for any fields that have HIGHEST_* as the prefix. We have a field in Peoplesoft Campus Solutions called "HIGHEST_EDUC_LVL" and a BY HIGHEST 1 EFFDT (for effective dated sort) produces an error due to WebFOCUS getting confused with the field name present.
Workarounds include either SET FIELDNAME=NOTRUNC to tell FOCUS not to truncate the fieldname or BY TOP which is the same as "HIGHEST".
