Exiting a Maintain Application Without Closing the Browser
By Mark Derwin

When a user has completed a Maintain application, it is never a bad idea to not only exit that application, but to close the browser as well. This ensures that any sensitive information entered into a form is truly hidden and the agents are properly closed and freed up. While this is fine for traditional browser applications, newer applications often require a different approach.

If your users are accustomed to using browser tabs, or if your users are running the application on a mobile device, attempting to close the browser session is going to cause problems. This article discusses an easy way to cleanly exit the application and bring your users to any launch screen or website you like.

The first thing we need to do is create an “exit” screen, as in Screen 1, which tells the user the application is complete. It should be displayed when the user clicks the “Save” or “Exit” button of your application.
