1. By VIEW do you mean join two tables together or a business view?

2. Read the WebFOCUS documentation on DBA

Just like DB2 VIEW. I don't want user to see all the fields in the table.

You can create a report and define what fields the user is allowed to see.
And restrict the number of records he will get.

A view is in fact just a report, output to HTML or EXCEL.

you could create reporting objects with the required fields, aggregations, sorting amd predefined filters to restrict data ... and you could do more with it ...

As JG suggests DBA is the way to go, for Read Only access, and restricting columns access.

Please see:
Limiting Data Source Access: The RESTRICT Attribute

Specifying an Access Type: The ACCESS Attribute

A trick from the TABLE TALK days.

You can create a alternate master for the data base. You have to account for all the fields and there lengths. It may take a little testing to get it right. If you give all the dummy fields the exact same names only the first one will be accessible.

I recall something about if the field is called FILLER it will disappear. Or maybe it was leave the field and alias parameter blank.

It has been quite a while since I set up a TABLE TALK environment.
