LIKE '%XYZ' is not passed to the rdbms resulting in slow response. The reason is possibly compatibility issues between wf fixed strings and rdbms variable.

Code

LIKE '%XYZ%' (this is optimized)

as well as

LIKE 'XYZ%'

to speed things up.

As a rule I would say that adapters are pretty samey in the way they work. One can only check the one that concerns you. Sorry I should have mentioned that this was the Oracle adapter.

XYZ% and %XYZ%, the most frequently used, ARE optimized
