I know I shouldn't be doing this, but I would like to understand what I'm getting away with.
Our production WF server is on AIX and we do not have permission to update files.
Our development WF server is on AIX and we do have permision to update files.
I am using DevStudio 5.3.4. On the production server, I can create folders in the "Web Applications" folder but cannot create files - fexes, masters, html, etc. I can drag files from the development WF server's "Web Applications" folder to the production WF server's "Web Applications" folder, but cannot drag them into the "EDASERVE" Applications folder. I can edit and save the files via the "Web Applications" folder, but cannot run them from there. I cannot edit files from the "EDASERVER" Applications folder but can run them from there.
Is this a loophole in DevStudio that overrides the AIX permissions set on the approot directory?
I had an issue like this on our UNIX server. When I would place files in app folders using Dev Studio the directory permissions would get overwriten with the user id from Dev Studio.

What's interesting is that I have set the data-server credentials in DevStudio to be the same as the one I am using via a SSH File transfer program. When I connect to the server with the SSH program, I cannot update the files I was able to move there via DevStudio.
