[CLOSED] Encrypt Decrypt Parameter in a Drilldown
I am developing a simple drill down report in WebFOCUS.. On clicking the Country Column the new procedure gets executed and report is generated.

&COUNTRY_NAME is drill down parameter in the URL being passed

EX:

quote:
&IBIAPP_app=test&IBIF_ex=cartest&CLICKED_ON=&COUNTRY_NAME=ENGLAND

Is there a way, there the Value is not shown in the URL or shown encrypted and decrypted in the second procedure?

How to do this?

I know a define or Compute field with a Flag or a Code based on each country would help.. Say, if there are 500+ distinct values in that column - Then define is not an idea to go with...

Just wanted to know, if there is a direct way or setting for doing this?

Thanks,

Ramkumar.

The safest way to hide the URL is to submit a form with a method of POST.

Thank you for the reply Waz. You mean to say I have to go for a Javascript function in drilldown - and specify POST and hide URL?

My Current code looks like below.. Is there a way to do with this direct FOCEXEC?

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
     CAR.COMP.CAR
     CAR.BODY.SEATS
     CAR.BODY.DEALER_COST
BY  LOWEST CAR.ORIGIN.COUNTRY
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=DATA,
     COLUMN=N1,
     TARGET='_blank',
     FOCEXEC=cartest( \
     COUNTRY_NAME=N1 \
     ),
$
ENDSTYLE
END

Thanks,

Ramkumar.

Not that I am aware of, no.

One simple technique to effectively hide the URL is to run the report in a frame, so the URL isn't visible, but that won't stop someone from checking with right-click or browser history.
