I am trying to compare the current date to a field from a table and am not sure how to tell dialogue manager which table to reference the field in.
So I only want to be able to run this report on days we do a data load, the Load Date field is being pulled from my data table and I want to compare that to the current day and if they mirror and i execute the fex i want it to run the report and distribute output, else if the load date does not mirror the current dateand i execute the fex i want it to automatically exit and not run the report.
Your question shows that you are not schizophrenic enough! Jokes aside, this is how WebFOCUS executes a procedure: The procedure is loaded from disk WF reads the lines. If a line starts with a - this is executed immediately. If not the line is sent to the stack. Once all lines are read, then, and only then, are commands executed from the stack.
This means that you have no way of comparing a field value to a variable (&VAR) in a dialog manager line (one starting with a -).
What you have to do is extract the value of LOAD_DATE form your file, output it to a HOLD or SAVE file, read (-READ or -READFILE) the value from output file to a variable and then perform your comparison.
I hope I'm clear.

What may be easier in this case is to move the filter into your table request and check whether you get any lines of output, using the automatically filled variable &LINES.
If that number equals zero, you can abort right away. If it's > zero, the report can continue on.
WHERE LOAD_DATE EQ &MDYY;
END
-RUN
-IF &LINES GT 0 THEN GOTO OUTPUT_REPORT;
-EXIT
