DougBidirectionally Chained Dropdown Lists
I'm only on 7.6.11. So, I may be missing something that's available in the (my) future. That is the bidirectional searching / populating of Chained Dropdown Lists (DDL).
Case in point: We know that chained DDLs for the car file will only show cars within the associated country and models within cars. But, what if the Country, Car, and Model DDL are fully populated and include the ALL functionality. Now, I'd like to see the COUNTRY DDL be limited to show ONLY ENGLAND and the CAR DDL to be limited to show ONLY JAGUAR when I pick "XJ12L AUTO" in the Model DDL. I'm sure you can see the need and convenience for this, right? Either way, I have users who like this bidirectional functionality of DDL and I need to provide it for them.
So, the question is: Can we do this in WebFOCUS? Or, do we need to use the good old JavaScript? I'm hoping the former, even if I need to wait for WF 8. We have apps here that do this in JS. But I want to do this in WebFOCUS.
Thanks in Advance, Doug

<MLerner>Doug,
We introduced this concept in 7702 with Slicers in InfoAssist, which can be used directly in InfoAssist or deployed in an InfoMini application.
Slicers are multi-select prompts that the user can change the comparison operator on and that cascade together dynamically in the order the user interacts with them.
Feel free to contact me if you would like to see this in action.

DougThanks Matthew,
I would like to see this in action and know if it can be used outside of IA or IM as a the ol' cascading dropdown lists work in a launch page prior to 7.7.02 ~ With the added touch of "bi-directionality".
As you can see, we're still in the land of 7.6.11...

David GlickDoug,
We do not have bidirectional chaining for HTML Composer controls. Please feel free to open a new feature request for this though.
Thanks.
