Embarassing as it is to admit this problem, I was entering a fex procedure in text mode, and I hit some key combination that has turned on the display for all my editing symbols. For example, instead of spaces, I see the dots on screen. I've looked everywhere and can't find out how to turn this off. Any suggestions?

On the VIEW menu select OPTIONS
There is a check box for Show Whitespace Characters - uncheck it and that sould correct the display
