[SOLVED] Querying the Repository
Can anyone tell me how to search the repository so that I can search the fexes for particular words? I have tried to find the tables/fields in the repository that would contain the fex text, but I have found nothing. Before WF8 I could just search the files on the server, but no more. Help please. I have looked through a lot of documents and found nothing.

Hi

You could try the following sql passthru code (for sql server repository):

-*-DEFAULT &SEARCH_STRING='RRRRR'

-PROMPT &SEARCH_STRING.search string.

SQL SQLMSS

SELECT T2.APPNAME,T2.OBJNAME,T2.PRT_PATH,T2.LASTMODON,T2.LASTMODBY
FROM [webfocusdev].[dbo].[WF_CONTENT_REVS] T1
INNER JOIN dbo.WF_REPOSOBJ T2
ON T1.OBJ_HANDLE = T2.HANDLE
where cast(cast(t1.BCONTENT as varbinary(max)) as varchar(max)) like '%&SEARCH_STRING|%'

;

END

I would suggest setting the repository export to raw, export it, then the files are available unencrypted, and you can use windows or other search functions to find what you need.

That SQL code was exactly what I needed. Thanks so much. I am wondering where you found the information concerning these tables. Did you just figure it out or was there some documentation that I missed?

As far as I know, there's no documentation - everyone is discovering on our own.

Waz's suggestion is one of the easiest, we use this export method as a backup so that we can restore "missing" or "zero-byte" fexes. The raw method allows one to view and search the code.

As far as I am concerned this ticket is closed, but I do not know how to do that.

Edit your original post, then add [SOLVED] to the beginning of the title.
