in 768, i depended upon readin that mpv.xml to prepare my welcome page

-WRITE anything FIELDNAME=RECORD,ALIAS=E01,USAGE=A200,ACTUAL=A200V,$
-CLOSE anything
FILEDEF anything CLEAR
FILEDEF MRVXML DISK c:/ibi/WebFOCUS77/worp/conf/mpv.xml
TABLE FILE MRVXML
PRINT RECORD
IF RECORDLIMIT IS 10

doesnt work anymore. the xml files are identical, i compared files in textpad to make sure.
i tried copying the .xml to a .txt, no cigar
i get
(FOC1346) : FORMAT ERROR: Record 1 , Column 2
(FOC1130) FORMAT CONVERSION ERROR FIELD/KEY : RECORD

Can you wizards try this on your own installs, 77+, and help me figure out how to get a master that will read that .xml? really need your genius.

Outside my scope, but have you tried using the ALIAS instead of the FIELDNAME?

tech support has replicated the issue, a definite bug.

Gavin, Susannah was perhaps a bit less than entirely gracious this time, but you've been on this forum for a long time and you will have recognised her as one of the "five wise men" - oops, make that "persons" - who individually know more about WebFocus than the next hundred of us put together. So if she posits a question here you can be pretty darn sure that she has ruled out all the obvious variables already.

Novice learn by understanding the problem an expert is having so they can have more options as they grow themselves. And you never know, even the most amateur can bring insight the experts over looked.

ah. wizards of tech support supplied the answer.
SET HTMLENCODE=ON
and then dont use V format, just make the field big enough to read the longest record
-WRITE anything FIELDNAME=RECORD,ALIAS=E01,USAGE=A200,ACTUAL=A200,$
works like a charm! Bless their hearts!
