When a value is blank (as opposed to NULL or MISSING) the NODATA character will not be displayed REGARDLESS of the field length. The only way around it is to redefine the field substituting '-' when the field is blank. If you want to preserve the missing values in the defined field, you'll need to add MISSING ON to the left of the equals sign.

What if you don't want to print the field? I can't seem to figure how to do something like: IF &variable IS MISSING THEN GOTO SKIP ELSE GOTO PRINT -PRINT " &variable " -SKIP ...
or even somethink like: IF &variable EQ '.' THEN GOTO SKIP else GOTO PRINT -PRINT " &variable " -SKIP
