[CLOSED] Upgrade choices: 7.6.10 - 7.6.11 - 7.7
We currently are at 7.67 and anticipate an upgrade.

What factors led to your decision to choose on version over another?

What issues have you folks in the Focus Nation encountered with upgrades to these more recent versions? Specifically, any issues with existing code, DevStudio components, etc.

Also, for those shops anticipating an upgrade what is driving your decision?

TIA - Sandy

We are currently on 7.6.9 and did full regression testing on 7.6.11. We encountered several issues and provided feedback to IBI. The 7.7.02 version is supposed to contain these fixes, so we opted to skip 7.6.11 and wait for 7.7.02. We will begin our 7.7.02 testing in the next few weeks. Note that some code "remediation" will probably be necessary in any of these versions.

S.J. Kadish,

We had challenges going from 7.6.10 to 7.6.11 so we reverted back to 7.6.10. We are in the process of determining how extensively we will need to modify our applications to work in 7.7.02. It will for sure require some effort.

Given the richness of the feature set in 7.7.02 and the fact that we know we need to make some changes to our code we decided to go from 7.6.10 to 7.7.02.

Hope this helps inform your decision.

Cheers,

Dan

Seriously in this situation I would wait for WF 8.

If you are 2003 server that suggests your clients are still XP.

? Office version.

Going to 7.7.0.x is a jump, going to 8.0.x will be another.

8 is supposed to be 6 months away from delivery, join the Beta program and get in from
the start and take a one time hit.
