Column title for LIST
Is it possible to use a different column title for the autogenerated "LIST" field? The report user would like it to be "#", rather than the word "LIST".

There is no way to turn off the column title for LIST. You can work around
this by coloring the column title for LIST white, put AS ' ' for the rest
of the column titles and then position your column titles within your HEADING.

Example:

TABLE FILE CAR
LIST CAR AS ' ' COUNTRY AS ' '
HEADING
" # <+0 CAR <+0 COUNTRY"
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=TITLE, COLUMN=N1, COLOR='WHITE',$
TYPE=HEADING, LINE=1, OBJECT=TEXT, ITEM=1, POSITION='N1',JUSTIFY=RIGHT,$
TYPE=HEADING, LINE=1, OBJECT=TEXT, ITEM=2, POSITION='N2', $
TYPE=HEADING, LINE=1, OBJECT=TEXT, ITEM=3, POSITION='N3', $
ENDSTYLE
END

something like this?

TABLE FILE CAR
LIST
MODEL
BY COUNTRY
ON TABLE HOLD
END
TABLE FILE HOLD
PRINT LIST AS '#'
BY COUNTRY
BY MODEL
END

Give me code, or give me retirement. In FOCUS since 1991

Production: WF 7.7.05M, Dev Studio, BID, MRE, WebSphere, DB2 / Test: WF 8.1.05M, App Studio, BI Portal, Report Caster, jQuery, HighCharts, Apache Tomcat, MS SQL Server
Think I like that better.

Actually, I found this little nugget in another report:

COMPUTE RANK/I5 = IF THE_TABLE.SORT_COLUMN_VALUE EQ LAST THE_TABLE.SORT_COLUMN_VALUE THEN ( RANK + 1 ) ELSE 1;
AS '#'

With this, I use PRINT, instead of LIST.
DEFINE FILE CAR
CNTR/I6 WITH COUNTRY = CNTR + 1;
END
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT COUNTRY
BY CNTR AS '#'
END

TEST: WebFOCUS 7.7.1 on UNIX accessing FOCUS, Oracle, SQLServer
TABLE FILE CAR
LIST
CAR AS ' ' COUNTRY AS ' '
ON TABLE HOLD AS TEST
END

TABLE FILE TEST
PRINT E01 AS '#'
CAR
COUNTRY
END
-EXIT

Thanks Kamesh --

Stumbled upon your solution while lurking, and it was just what I needed.

I don't know if it's a valid hesitation at all, but I hesitate to use HOLD files unless necessary. I went with the COMPUTE approach, and it seems to be working.

Thanks.
