I have a report that has an encrypted field on it. If the user has access to see the decrypted value, there would appear an image(unlock/lock) that they can click on to show the decrypted value where the encrypted value is, thus allowing the user to toggle back and forth between encrypted/decrypted values. Can this be done in Webfocus?

I don't think that there's an out-of-the-box feature that supports that.

To achieve what you want, you'll need to resort to custom JavaScript code to hide/unhide values upon clicking the image. You must control in WebFOCUS the inclusion of the decrypted value and the JavaScript piece only when the user running the report has actual access to the data.

Another alternative would be to define a drill-down report that would execute upon clicking the image. This new report will then display the decrypted data.

Though the second alternative won't have the visual effect you want, it will be very easy to implement using standard default drill-down functionality in WebFOCUS. I also like this alternative because it will allow you to keep your main report output "clean" and more secure.

With the first approach, you return decrypted information and then hide it, but hidden or not that info will still be in the HTML document so by using "View Source" in the browser your user will have easy access to that "protected" information which is probably not what you want, unless you want to get fancy and load the info via AJAX only when the image is clicked but that means more custom code that increases the complexity.
