Recently I applied IbComposer_setValue (or something like that - see the API for details) to some chained controls to set default values in onInitialUpdate(). Rather to my surprise, that just worked - and fairly quickly even!
Normally I use my own js library to handle such tasks, but when I wrote that the IbComposer API hadn't been exposed yet.

I just grepped our source; that's the one indeed. But, with the time difference between your post and mine, you probably figured that out already :P
We (I) created a library that wraps this in such a way that it first builds a hierarchical tree of chained controls (with all controls - including those that are not chained - linked to a fictional root control) and then call IbComposer_setCurrentSelection while walking through that hierarchy.
The library also does some value conversions from anything to Arrays, as (apparently, I forgot the details) the API function expects arrays; be that a single-item array for scalar values or an actual array for multiple selections containing only those option/checkbox values that are selected.
We used to use a library that did this without making use of the IbComposer API, but that was much larger, more complicated and slower, while the new implementation is just over 250 lines including jsdoc comments. It hasn't been tested much yet though...This message has been edited. Last edited by: Wep5622,
