Is there a way to set up a job in ReportCaster to accommodate reports where the report name changes each time the job is run? I have reports where the name of the report includes the reporting period and date (for example, Sales_ACTvsBUD_March2008_04282008.xls). Each time the job is run, the report name is updated with the period and date. When the report runs, it is saved to a server, but I don't know how to tell RC to email this report. Thanks in advance. We are on WF 7.6.1 on Windows. simba

You can have a driver program which is the one you schedule. It can have Dialogue Manager code in it to calculate the name of the report and the output file. You can then do a -INCLUDE on the focexec.
On second thought, you don't really need that, except for the DM stuff. If you are saving the report to disk, you aren't really emailing a report. If you have an APP HOLD or a FILEDEF in your program for where you are saving the report, then you don't have to worry about the file name. Based on the values of the Dialogue Manager variables that you are using to calculate the name of the report, the report will be saved. Your RC job just needs to run.
Thanks. This is kind of a 2-step process. I have been saving the report to server so I have a backup copy and I also want to email a copy of the report to an analyst. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

Here's your two steps: #1) TABLE FILE your data and output it to the holding (backup) place. Don't get fancy. Just the data needed for the body of the report. No formatting, no headers, no footers, no totals, etc. Just the raw data filtered and sorted for the report. FORMAT FOCUS is adequate and fast. #2) TABLE FILE your held data. Just print the data adding all the fancy stuff; the totals, the formats, the headings, etc. Distribute this report as your e-mail.
This way, you can re-run the report (step #2) as often as needed and you're guaranteed to get the same output.

Then to follow up on Chris' email, in your RC schedule, create 2 tasks. One task will create the saved report and the second one will email the spreadsheet.
Thanks for the responses. I am currently working with the clients to see if I can save the reports to a network share where they can get the reports, or accept a generically named report emailed to them through RC. They can rename the report to include the reporting period and date when they save it off. simba
