We are on WebFOCUS 5.2.7 in Windows XP. There is a drill down report hardcoded to be in EXL2K format. The report can be rather lengthy and it would be nice to pass along a freezeframe command to freeze the headers so they are viewable when the user scrolls down the report. It there a way to do this?
Version 7 has the ability to push data to an Excel template rather than just the (XML) output to format EXL2K.
The syntax is -
'ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K TEMPLATE '[template name]' SHEETNUMBER [worksheetnumber - NOT name]'
The template has to be saved in a 'mht' format and must be comprised of two or more worksheets (i.e. a Workbook not a Worksheet).
In 5.2.7 I would be inclined to pull the data from your data source using a web query (Excel menu - Data/Get External Data/New Web Query). Set the 'Refresh on Load' and 'Enable Automatic refresh' options upon saving.

Jerry, as far as i know, no. We'ld like to be able to set a number of features in excel, freeze frame, pre-filtering, hidden columns, and ranges pre-named; Ibi has listened to us on the ranges being pre-named...(and they liked the idea) and that's in the works for 7n, but other features are things that most excel users can do for themselves without too much agony...most users... and right now i'ld settle for getting FORMULA to actually work as advertised, with parens respected and COLUMN-TOTAL not recomputing. Those problems are serious flaws, imho. As tony suggests, if you set up a spreadsheet with a webquery, (there's an article on focal point 'focus on developers' on that,) and you set up the sheet filtered and framefrozen and formatted, the act of refreshing the data preserves formatting. colors, too. nice! Thats how my finance department users do it. they're very happy.
