I have designed a dashboard with Report Layout Painter based on several data sources. I need to pass information from one dashboard to another using parameters.
How can I do this? I want navigation to be run based on hyperlinks.

Do you mean from one dashboard frame to another?

If so, with JavaScript, I think you can address the different frames with the following:

parent.frames[1]
parent.frames[2]
etc.

IN my experience tryng to access frames in Dashboard is a catch as catch can enterprise. The best way to pass parms universally in a Dashboard app is with a session cookies. The good thing about a session cookie is it's destroyed when the session is over, nothing left behind to spy on.

WebFOCUS includes a default user cookie which is all yours to play with called WF_USER. You can add as many parms to this cookie as you like. There are even functions built into the CGI to set and clear values from the cookie.

When you place a name/value pair into a cookie, it's automatically passed to every WebFOCUS procedure - indeed, on every Web page submission - as if by magic. It's just browser magic. You don't have to explicitly pass the parameter.

You'll find a good amount of doc on this technology in the WebFOCUS Security and Administration Guide. This is the one WebFOCUS book to keep beside your desk - more WebFOCUS secrets and tricks are in there than anywhere else.

There is a function library file in the WebFOCUS Client path called ibicookie (located in WebFOCUSnn\ibi_html\javaassist\ibi\html\js) that includes SetIBICookieElement and GetIBICookieElement functions that let you manipulate these from JavaScript in your Web application.

If I am correct in my thinking, I believe gaburek is talking about his own 'dashboard' pages and not those within WebFOCUS BID. A small but important distinction.

Gaburek, if I am correct in my thinking then you will need to add your variables to your HREF execution path. I also assume that as you are talking HREFs that you are not using a FORM submit button.

For instance, your current href might look like 'href="/cgi-bin/ibi_cgi/webapi.dll?IBIF_ex= focexec_name......'

To pass extra parameters just add them to the end of your href string -
'href="/cgi-bin/ibi_cgi/webapi.dll?IBIF_ex= focexec_name&parm1=value1&parm2=value2... etc. '
