mrmigrate
I tried to follow the book WebFOCUS and ReportCaster Installation and Configuration for z/Linux
as this is the platform we use. This book is not dealing with migration of dashboard and other applications from previous version, so we followed the unix book, which is talking about this ..
The books are very poor and not very clear
We are trying to migrate the dashboard and managed reporting
the migration is done by mrmigrate utility
the first problem we have when copying this utility to the old machine with wf53 is, it needs a recent version of java, and on the old machine we have 1.4.2 installed
trying to bring in a temp version of 150 did not succeeded as gblibc 230 is also needed, and we don't want to destroy/modify our running prd server
so I try to tar the install directory of old version and move to new machine, and execute migrate over there
the first question is : when we select export :
==
The utility prompts you for the WebFOCUSnn installation directory of the release you are
extracting: Please enter the installation directory of the existing
WebFOCUS installation to be extracted.
(e.g. /home1/ibi/WebFOCUS76)
according the e.g this points to new server ??
is new path needed when doing the extract ??
Thanks for the update/help
If someone has encountered these type of problems and found a workaround or book clearly explaining this process, please indicate

Sayed
You need to extract from WF 53x... Therefore, your extract directory should be ../ibi/WebFOCUS53x and your load directory should be .../ibi/WebFOCUS76x
