When I try to output a report to excel on our dashboard via IE7, I get the following error, "Do you want to save this file, or find a program online to open it?" I see that the message shows the file with a .xls The issue here is I can save it but of course the drilldowns wont work locally on my pc. Any help?
Exactly, which is the problem.. IE7 doesnt allow me to view the file, any work around that? I am trying to avoid saving but the browser is being difficult.
When you get prompted for the save is there a 'check box' to not ask again? You shouldn't have to save for it to open, but getting rid of the prompt requires you to do the 'don't ask' me for it to open automatically. I've not seen where it won't unless there are some special security settings for which I'm not aware on your machine.

It does not give the option to not ask again. It does not recognize the file format for some reason and it does not allow you to select from programs on your computer. Only if you want to save, or look online... Seems to be an IE7 issue. I am looking into this thru microsoft..
I would check which version of Office is installed, could be an issue. Also, which windows system, I have Win XP Pro and Office 2003 and haven't had any issues.
