We have a Reportcaster PDF report which is E-Mailed to various users that contains a drill down to another PDF report. When clicking the drill down in IE6, everything functions exactly as designed. When clicking the drill down in IE8, if the user has no instances of IE8 open it functions as designed (so we know the URL is correct - thanks to all the previous discussions on this which prove invaludable) however if they have an instance of IE8 already open, we get "Error code is: 1021Could not get error message" and the drill down doesn't work. We have tried setting it to open in a new window, new tab, changing the compatibility settings etc. Has anyone come across this and is there some setting we are missing to get the drill down to open while Internet Explorer (IE8) is already running? This message has been edited. After many frustrating hours of trying everything under the sun, including hacking the registry and trying to force new sessions of IE8 etc. I have discovered that it seems to be the link between Adobe and IE8. If I save the report and then open it in Adobe it still fails but if I save the report and open it with Internet Explorer (i.e. Adobe within IE), then it works.
