[SOLVED]calling a focexec in mre
How to include a focexec that resides in MRE from a focexec on the reporting server

Ex: focexec A is on the reporting server
focexec B is in MRE

from A
-INCLUDE B ?

You can't.

At best if MRE is on the same machine as the reporting sever, you may be able to APP MAP to the folder it is in.

Not recommended though

We do it here using a custom java framework using SOAP to reach reports in MRE by URL. We are now migration it to RESTful.

I hope it helps.

Information from the vendor: http://documentation.informati...wf/wf8105upgrade.pdf. See the Web Services section (starting on page 37) for caveats of using SOAP calls with WebFOCUS 8.

Maybe this is a silly question... but why would you want to call something from the MRE from the Reporting Server like that? I fail to see the use case. Maybe its just me, but I've always built all content to be served through the MRE... I can't think of any scenario where I would tell my End User to login through the Reporting Server or have some process run through the reporting server and bypassing the Client all together. Even ReportCaster, which doesn't connect through the client, calls the fexes from MRE instead of the reporting server...

for example, once you put Oracle Access Manager on as your security, you can no longer reach front end fexes via report caster, only back end ones. so we had to come up with a really convoluted way to run stuff.
