I have a report that sorts and sums Part records into three part types. When a Part Type is clicked, the report drills to a detail report for that part type.
A request was put in to not show some columns on the detail report for one of the part types.
Is it possible to create another report and drill down to this one with less columns by checking the drilldown parameter (part type)?
Or, can I use the same report for all part type, and in the drilldown report, have a way to not show certain columns if the part type is equal to a certain value?
Thanks Ken. Should have known that one. My brain cells already took off for the weekend. This will work out nice since it happens to be the last group of columns in my report and I can accomplish this with one -IF.
One of the methods I use rather than a load of IF THEN statements, particularly if you have the same thing to repeat throughout your fex, is to use something like -
-DEFAULT &Country = 'ENGLAND'
-SET &Ctry_Cmt = IF &Country EQ 'JAPAN' THEN '-*' ELSE '';
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM DCOST
RCOST
&Ctry_Cmt.EVAL SEATS
&Ctry_Cmt.EVAL LENGTH
BY COUNTRY
BY CAR
BY MODEL
WHERE COUNTRY EQ '&Country'
END

Thanks Tony! That also works well! I don't know why I was thinking of solving this at the Summary report level and not directly in the Detail report. I come here to learn!
