Anyone using InfoAssist in earnest? If so, what are your thoughts? Any good or bad practices? Anything major to steer clear of?
We are planning to move to 7.6.10 and utilise InfoAssist for Power users only (max 10), using overnight batch created staged/aggregated data. So, trying to keep file sizes to a minimum and as concise as possible.
Any major differences between 7.6.9 and 7.6.10?
Susannah, you had some negative views earlier this year - any more feedback?
Thanks very much guys(and girls). This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,
we implemented in at Pernod Ricard (7.6.8) and the only issue as far as I know is if you're going against an SQL db, IA generates a RECORDLIMIT instead of a READLIMIT and you know what WF is doing with that. Reading all x million rows and applying a RECORDLIMIT on the answer set. You have to work with sample data, not real if your tables are big. It works fine with a Focus db.
That issue is resolved with a 7610 hotfix. We will not pass aggregation to the RDBMS during Live Preview.

we have it in production in 768. its extremely slow. we've decided to release ONLY reporting objects, not reveal it in the standard reports area. its slow compared to ReportAssist b/c it pulls data before the reveal, whereas RA only reads the master before the reveal. Our users just don't like it. they want a faster, more responsive tool. Reading b/w the lines....

I can't find info related to this issue in any 7.6.10 HOTFIX pronouncement. So my assumption is it will be in a future HOTFIX. Can you provide anymore detail on the HOTFIX?
This is important for us as we want to move forward with training our users on Info Assist but cannot until a fix for the data preview is implemented.

This fis is going into 7610 Hotfix 2 which is supposed to be posted tomorrow. It was fixed too late for Hotfix 1.

My understanding (not based on any technical knowledge) is that 7.6.10 is quicker and more robust than earlier releases. Early intentions are to use Personal InfoAssist pinned to the Start button for some users.
We've been using info assist for a few months now, and our users really like the interface. Our users picked up the tool pretty quickly, and find it easy to use.
The biggest complaint is working with "preview with live data" option. It bogs everything down, but I guess that's been addressed by David Glick.
