Hi,

I have a code as follows

TABLE FILE HOLD
PRINT
xxx
yyy
BY aaa
BY bbb
BY ccc
END
-RUN

The last BY is not working. Even if I change the order, whatever has been put in last position does not seems like working.

Can someone let me know if there is any limit in number of BY's that should be used in the code?

Hello Ramya,

I don't think there is any such limitation on the number of the BY fields. I have used upto 15, 20 BY fields in some of my reports. so 3 in your case is not a limit at all. Try changing the order of the BY fields and see if the BY happens properly on "ccc". Should be some data problems or structure that might not do grouping correctly..

Yes there is a limit. You can have upto 128 sort phrases(BY + ACROSS).
But in your case, there should not be any issue. There could be some issue with data like extra space and that cause the issue.

What is the source of the HOLD file ?

Is the data Unicode ?
