I found the discussion thread that points to the documentation for the web services adatper so I don't need to be pointed to that.

But will the adapter work if the web service is not implemented using WSDL? Is there an option to leverage a web service that doesn't use a wsdl file? I have a project that wants to use an existing web service that is written in perl (I think) on a Linux box that is accessed via cgi on a https host. They are asking me if I can generate the wsdl file or how I normally go about getting the wsdl file created. Neither of which I no much about. I have implemented a sample from the local branch and it just works like a black box once I give it a good url.

Thanks,

Jon

Jon,

The WSDL is just a description of the Web Service. If you go to the webfocus main menu then you will see a link there to create a WSDL. Give the results to your Perl people and they should be happy.

Hi Jon,

Our Web Services adapter needs to consume the WSDL file to be able to communicate with a Web Service. This is all documented in the Web Service documentation. If you would like to have an adapter with capability to run web services without consuming the WSDL, it will need to be submitted as a New Feature Request (NFR).

To submit a NFR, please contact Information Builders' Customer Support Services by either calling 1-800-736-6130, or access online InfoResponse. Here is a list of information to be ready when you call: http://techsupport.ibi.com/before_you_call.jsp.

Hope this helps. Smiler

Cheers,

Kerry
