We are trying to run a report using EXL07 format. There are two issues we are facing. 1. Report keeps running. I tried even with the car file. Report keeps running. 2. I tried using SQL passthru for one of our existing reports and that helped us to be able to run the report. But, when we get the output, we are being prompted with this error "Do you want to save this file. or find a program online to open it?" I tried all the redirect settings as per the documentation, cleared cache and still it does not work.
Any ideas?
Thank you. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,
The message you are seeing indicates to me that the report has finished running and the output file is being downloaded but the PC you are running it from does not have Excel 07 available to open the file with. This often happens when you test run a report directly on a server, as servers do not tend to have MS Office products installed on them.

I posted something similar with performance issues. Please check post titled '[EXPLAINED] EXL2K vs EXL07 performance'. I fould the responses very usefull. We ended up running our reports as EXL2K after a test on a simple print ran for 3 seconds in EXL2K mode and 2.5 hours in EXL07. We are on EF 7701.

I submitted a case for this and the response I got was that there were lot of fixes that went on for 7.7.1 and 7.7.2 I tested this on 773 and it works fine. Thanks you all for your help.
