Dan, I agree with you that long searching should be the exception.
This also really depends on your current position.

Here is another good quote (I can't remember the speaker / the exact words):
"I gained most of my knowledge when I was searching for something and found something completely different."

The best thing about trying something by yourself:
You find a LOT of other useful information (which comes handy another day).

By trying different things trying to solve the error I've learned a lot about debugging and testing (the situation I described happened when I was very new to WebFOCUS).

Darryl, can you elaborate on this? I did my search and research and still didn't quite get it.

By the way, hope your back is feeling better today. Have you consider the option of have Friday nights out with Francis playing poker game instead of hockey game?
