Hi

I have hundreds of foc file and need a quick way to calculate the total size of focus database. Someone mentioned there is a script provided by IBI. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

You can do a dir with output to a file.

That file can be a source for a kind of database (create a master on the txt file)

I am not sure if this is what I want.

If I do ? file AASPDB

I got total char 6273740, can I multiply 4 to get the total bytes?

/opt/webfocus/ibi/apps should be changed to the path to the focus dbs on your system.

&TSIZE will be dependant on your unix system as block size can vary by flavor and installation

on Solaris !df -g will return the information
on linux !tune2fs -l /dev/sda1 | grep Block
other systems vary

They may have meant CALCFILE -- but that's for estimating how large a Focus file will be when loaded, based on the master file and the estimated number of instances for each segment.

Here is another way to get the size.
APP QUERY IBISAMP HOLD

TABLE FILE FOCAPPQ
PRINT 
      APPNAME
      FILENAME
      SIZE
WHERE GETTOK(UPCASE(70,FILENAME,'A70'),70,-1,'.',70,'A70') EQ 'FOC'
END


Will work for Windows and Unix, not sure about other platforms, and without extra DM only for one APP dir.
