What does all this mean? For example, is this telling me that Oracle is not available? What is shared memory realm? What file are they referring to?
Hi Patty, That's exactly what it's telling you. You might have already resolved this at your site, but the message simply means that the shared memory segment created for the Oracle instance is inactive. Rich

Can you access the Data Adapters link and "Test" them? If you get an error here, there's something wrong with the connection.
From Oracle Support: "You are getting the ORA-1034 error because your database is down. You will need to start it in order to access it. Go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services. Look for the service OracleServiceSID, where SID is your database identifier. Start this service. This will start your database."
