[CLOSED]Error message while cerating a new fex file in webfocus dev studio
Hi,
Iam trying to create a new fex file in webfocus developer studio 8105 version and since 2 days, Iam getting this error message - Encountered an improper argument.
Could anyone please let me know what is wrong?
Thanks a lot in advance for all the help.

That sounds suspiciously familiar to the problem we used to have with the default stylesheet option. There was discussion on that topic on this forum not too long ago.

Actually I tried deleting the 4 lines in the default.stl file within the bin folder under DevStudio81 folder but still Iam getting the same error message while creating the new fex file.
Please help.

In order to expedite getting this resolved I would suggest opening a case with techsupport. You should not have deleted the four lines of the default.stl file. Those are pointers to the actual sty files used by devstudio. Typically the default style sheet is name endeflt.sty and is located in the \ibi\devstudio81\srv81\home\etc directory. Check to make sure that exists.
I really think you need to open a case to get this resolved though

Hi again Info4Pal
You may want to consider uninstalling and re-installing Dev Studio and see if the problem goes a way.

Hi Chuck,
I have again restored those 4 lines of the default.stl file. As you suggested, I have made sure that the endeflt.sty exists within the \ibi\devstudio81\srv81\home\etc directory.
I will try un-installing and re-installing dev studio to see if the error goes away. If nothing works out, then I will try opening a case with the techsupport.
Thanks a lot again to you and all others who helped me with your inputs/suggestions.
I seem to recall that Dev Studio searches for the file in the local installation's environment, ignoring any such files in the environment(s) on other locations.
Things like that surprise us every now and then, as we never use the local environment and usually vehemently remove it from the environments list to prevent any kind of confusion. Hence, while the file is there, it's not the one people think to look at and confusion ensues.
Of course, with the ability to have multiple environments, it makes sense that Dev Studio resorts to picking the local one.
As I mentioned in that thread (the link you posted is incomplete BTW), we had a case open that was closed due to our inability to reproduce the problem. The best course of action is to open a case again.
